Bad weather cancels flights across Northeast of the US
According to forecasts, a two-days massive winter storm led to thousands of airline flight cancellations in the United States.
If you are a tourist or a local aiming to transit the Northeast of the United States during this week, you should know that more than 1,000 flights have been canceled or rescheduled due to the inherent snowstorm meteorologists expect. To be more specific, FlightAware has been registering no less than 2.400 delays and 1.280 cancellations so far. And the numbers are going up every hour that passes.
For example, Chicago is the most affected city: 47 per cent of all the flights in and from the city have been disrupted. The same situation is expected for the Baltimore-Washington area for the days to come, as more than 68 per cent of all flight schedule will not be respected.
Providence, Manchester and New York are next on the list with a 20 per cent cancellation rate.
Most affected airlines offer re-booking for flights, without charging for a fee. American Airlines, Delta, Frontier, JetBlue, Spirit, Southwest and United are among the air-carriers that have offered alternative solutions for their passengers.
The situation is expected to get back to normal as soon as the storm will pass. If planning to travel inside the United states during this time-frame, please check with your air-carrier for delays, cancellations or any kind of schedule disruption.
