Amtrak Auto Train Tickets Are Now on Sale

News

Amtrak has made it simpler and more affordable to travel south in the spring break season. This sale on its Auto Train tickets starts at $29.

Amtrak requires that tickets be booked by March 17 to receive southbound travel between Lorton, VA and Sanford, FL for travel from March 10 to June 8. Travelers can either book a coach seat starting at $29 or a private room starting from $229 plus the cost for their vehicle.

"Amtrak is launching a limited-time sale for travelers who want to skip the hassles of driving on I-95 from the Northeast to Florida and bring their vehicle aboard the Auto Train," the rail company said.

Travelers must purchase tickets at least 3 days in advance. There are several blackout dates that apply between March 30 and April 2 and April 6 through April 8.

Amtrak's Auto Train allows passengers to travel up and down the East Coast non-stop while also bringing their cars for an additional charge. The trip takes 17 hours and 29 mins and can accommodate cars and vans as well as motorcycles, SUVs, small boats and jet-skis.

Book a train ticket for a coach and receive a continental breakfast when you arrive at your destination.

For those who want a more intimate experience, they can book a Roomette. They will be provided with bedding, pillows, towels, an attendant, continental breakfast, and complimentary dinner. A private bedroom starts at $429 and is available to those who wish to spend more.

Amtrak waived change fees on reservations made before December 31, 2023. Some cancellation fees apply. Travelers who cancel Saver Fare tickets within 24 hours of purchase are not eligible for 75% in the form a non-refundable electronic voucher.
