Air France and Vietnam Airlines – a joint venture for better trips

The two companies have recently signed a strategic partnership optimizing routes between the European continent and Southeastern Asian country.
The strategic deal starting this November will bring more benefits to passengers traveling between France and other European countries and Vietnam, as the agreement is set to offer more routes and additional flight options.
The latest decision comes after the two companies have been collaborating for over 20 years in aircraft maintenance and crew training projects.
“After the completion of the four-star service programme, Vietnam Airlines expects to take the current joint venture with Air France to the next level in order to reach our full potential in France and Europe. Thanks to the new strategic partnership, our customers, including businesses and individuals, will enjoy comprehensive services and benefits, contributing to the development and connection between the two countries and two continents. Cooperation with Air France also demonstrates Vietnam Airlines’ commitment and determination in boosting investment in the international market, especially the French and European markets through the key routes between Vietnam and France,” declared Duong Tri Thanh, CEO at Vietnam Airlines.
Moreover, the representatives of the two companies are currently negotiating the future terms of a collaboration focusing on boosting technical maintenance of aircrafts owned by Vietnam Airlines.
Hanoi-Noi Bai, Ho Chi Minh City-Tan Son Nhat and Paris-Charles de Gaulle will be the three hubs connecting 70 destinations operated by both Air France and Vietnam Airlines, while also covering the 1.000 international hot-spots offered by SkyTeam Global Alliance, a worldwide network both air-carriers are members of.
“Consolidating our alliances is one of the aims of our Trust Together strategic plan. This joint venture agreement will be a long-term source of value for our customers and for our two airlines. Our aim is to maintain and develop our position as European leader in this region with very strong growth potential,” added Franck Terner, CEO at Air France.
The alliance comes as a result of France being the most important market for Vietnameze tourism, as the two countries have been directly connected via direct flights since 2003.
