A Czech spa offers special programs dedicated to cancer survivors recovery

As cancer is the second cause of death across the country, one of the most famous spa retreats here has implemented a unique program aiming to ease cancer treatment recovery period, while increasing mental and physical wellness of the patients at the same time. The new Facing Forward! program was launched on World Cancer Day.
"Living with cancer takes an incredible physical and mental toll. Chemotherapy and radiotherapy represent an additional burden on the immune system," commented Reinhard Wall, CEO of Falkensteiner Spa Resort Marienbad.
The holistic program delivers additional help for people struggling with recovery, by focusing on procedures that boost the immune immune system, promote physical recovery, and improve the mental state.
Custom therapies can be applied following an initial evaluation.
"Prior to the start of the program, a comprehensive medical exam takes place, after which an individual therapeutic plan is created for the guests based on their particular diagnosis,” Wall added.
The program features 22 selected procedures that last for six nights and seven days, supervised by a team of specialists led by Dr. Roman Vokatý. Procedures such as therapeutic baths, intramuscular vitamin treatments, strengthening of the airways, lymphatic drainage, local cryotherapy, laser therapy, physio-therapeutic massages, individual physiotherapy, mindfulness sessions, forest therapy, Chi-Quong or Ai-Chi techniques are used to boost general wellness.
Guests at Falkensteiner Spa Resort Marienbad can also enjoy the hotel’s Acquapura Spa, as well as the nutritious plant-based meals served at the local restaurant.
According to official statistics, the Czech Republic has the second-highest incidence of kidney cancer and the third-highest of pancreatic cancer across Europe. Lung, breast, and prostate cancer incidence is also high among the country’s general population.
