KLM extends Dubai and Saudi Arabia flight suspensions through October 31

KLM has extended the suspension of flights to Dubai, Riyadh and Dammam through October 31, 2026, prolonging cancellations on the three routes amid disruption linked to the situation in the Middle East.

The airline confirmed the extension in an October 10 update. Its previous announcement had suspended services through October 24, meaning the latest decision adds another week of cancellations.

The update does not confirm a restart date for any of the three destinations.

Gulf routes remain suspended after repeated extensions

KLM’s flights to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates and Riyadh and Dammam in Saudi Arabia have been subject to successive cancellation extensions since late February.

On February 28, the airline said regional airspace closures and the geopolitical situation had disrupted its operations. It subsequently extended the suspensions through the spring and summer, citing continued uncertainty and the need to give passengers clarity about upcoming journeys.

In earlier statements, KLM said it was monitoring developments and maintaining contact with the relevant authorities.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is always our top priority,” the airline said in its communications about the cancellations.

Tel Aviv covered by a separate schedule announcement

The October 10 extension applies to Dubai, Riyadh and Dammam. KLM addressed its Amsterdam–Tel Aviv service separately in an August 7 update, announcing plans to resume flights from August 25.

Under that arrangement, the service was scheduled to include a technical stop in Larnaca, Cyprus, where the crew would stay overnight.

The latest statement does not announce any further changes to the Tel Aviv schedule.

Rebooking and refund options for affected passengers

KLM’s passenger guidance says customers whose flights are cancelled will be rebooked onto the first available service. Travellers can also review their options through the KLM app or My Trip on the airline’s website.

Passengers who no longer wish to travel can request a refund for their original flight. Those who booked through a travel agency should contact their agent for assistance.

The airline also advises passengers to check My Trip for revised journey details if cancellations affect a connecting flight.

Earlier repatriation flights supported stranded travellers

During the initial disruption in March, KLM worked with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs to bring stranded travellers back to the Netherlands.

Flights from Muscat arrived at Amsterdam Schiphol on March 4 and March 7, with the latter operating via Cairo. A further planned departure was postponed because of the security situation and subsequently cancelled.

Those operations formed part of the airline’s earlier response to the disruption. The October 10 update concerns scheduled flights to Dubai, Riyadh and Dammam and does not announce new repatriation services.
