Korean Air and Delta Expand Seamless Baggage Transfer to LA and Seattle

Korean Air and Delta Air Lines have extended their Seamless Baggage Transfer service to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport, bringing the total number of US gateways covered by the program to five, alongside Atlanta, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Detroit.

The technology, powered by International Remote Baggage Screening (IRBS), allows checked baggage to be screened at Incheon International Airport before the flight departs, with bags reviewed remotely by US Customs and Border Protection prior to landing. Passengers connecting in the US can proceed directly to their gate without collecting and rechecking bags, saving up to 20 minutes and significantly reducing customs interactions at US airports.

Since the service launched on the Incheon–Atlanta route in August 2025, Seamless Baggage Transfer has cut customs interactions at US airports by more than 65 percent, and has enabled the vast majority of customers facing late arrivals to successfully make their onward connections.

The expansion to Los Angeles launched June 23 on two daily Korean Air flights, while the Seattle service began the same day across two daily combined Korean Air and Delta departures.

“By expanding this service to Seattle and Los Angeles, we enable customers to move through US airports more efficiently and have more time to relax between flights,” said Jeff Moomaw, Vice President Asia Pacific at Delta Air Lines.
