SkyUp Airlines to Launch Vienna-Chisinau Flights in Summer 2027

SkyUp Airlines to Launch Vienna-Chisinau Flights in Summer 2027

SkyUp Airlines will make its debut at Vienna Airport in summer 2027 with a new direct service connecting the Austrian capital with Chisinau, Moldova.

The airline will operate the route twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, using Boeing 737 aircraft. The service will begin with the start of Vienna Airport’s 2027 summer flight schedule.

The new connection will expand travel options between Austria and Moldova while also providing another international air link for passengers travelling to and from Ukraine.

SkyUp Adds Vienna-Chisinau Route for Summer 2027

SkyUp’s arrival will add another carrier to Vienna Airport’s Eastern European network and increase capacity on the existing Vienna-Chisinau market.

The route is intended to serve both leisure and business passengers travelling between Moldova and Central Europe.

Chisinau has also taken on greater importance as an international aviation gateway for Ukrainian travellers since the closure of Ukrainian airspace to civil aviation.

Julian Jäger, joint CEO and COO of Vienna Airport, said:

“With SkyUp Airlines, we are welcoming a new airline partner to Vienna and further expanding our flight offering to Eastern Europe. Every additional flight strengthens Vienna’s international connectivity and broadens our route network. The additional flights to Chisinau provide our passengers with greater choice, improve connections to Moldova and expand travel options to and from Ukraine. We are delighted to welcome SkyUp Airlines to Vienna Airport.”

Vienna-Chisinau Flight Schedule

Starting with the 2027 summer schedule, SkyUp Airlines will operate flights between Vienna and Chisinau every Thursday and Sunday.

The planned schedule is:

  • Chisinau – Vienna: Departure at 09:55, arrival at 10:40
  • Vienna – Chisinau: Departure at 11:40, arrival at 14:25

All times are local.

SkyUp plans to operate the service using Boeing 737 aircraft.

Dmytro Sieroukhov, CEO of SkyUp Airlines, said:

“Vienna – Chisinau is an established route with strong growth dynamics and clear demand from passengers travelling between Moldova and Central Europe. By adding our direct service from Vienna in summer 2027, SkyUp will offer travellers more choice, convenient access to Moldova’s capital and a service concept focused on comfort, quality, and fair price. As we expand our scheduled network, we continue to focus on routes where direct connectivity creates real value for passengers.”

Chisinau Remains an Important Gateway for Ukrainian Travellers

The route also has wider regional significance due to Chisinau’s proximity to Ukraine.

With Ukrainian airspace remaining closed to civilian flights, passengers travelling to and from Ukraine continue to rely on airports in neighbouring countries for international air connections.

Chisinau International Airport has consequently become an important gateway, particularly for travellers from southern and western parts of Ukraine.

The new SkyUp service will provide an additional direct option between this regional gateway and Vienna, one of Central Europe’s major aviation hubs.

New Flights Improve Access to Moldova From Vienna

The service will also make Moldova more accessible to Austrian and international leisure travellers.

Chisinau is the country’s political, economic and cultural centre, with parks, museums, restaurants and broad boulevards forming much of the city’s urban landscape.

The Moldovan capital is also a common starting point for trips into the country’s established wine regions and underground wine cellars, which have become some of Moldova’s best-known tourism attractions.

The country remains less heavily visited than many other European destinations, offering a combination of rural landscapes, local wine production and cultural traditions away from Europe’s busiest tourism centres.

SkyUp Continues European Network Expansion

SkyUp was founded in Ukraine in 2017, with SkyUp Airlines beginning flight operations the following year.

Since 2023, the brand has also operated through SkyUp MT Limited, which holds a Maltese Air Operator Certificate and allows the group to operate within the European Union regulatory framework.

In 2025, SkyUp expanded its international activities through a strategic partnership with Moldovan airline Sky Up Nistru.

Scheduled services from Moldova, Romania and Poland have been operating since April 2025, connecting these markets with major European cities and leisure destinations.

According to the company’s figures, SkyUp carried more than three million passengers and operated nearly 20,000 flights in 2025.

The addition of Vienna in summer 2027 will further expand that scheduled European network while giving Vienna Airport another direct connection to Moldova.
