The Bahamas' Junkanoo Group Obtains Sponsorship For Another Year

News

For the second year in a row, Royal Caribbean International has pledged $100,000 to the RC Music Makers Junkanoo collaboration.

RCI has collaborated with The Bahamas to highlight the country's distinct culture, the warmth of its people, and the significance of the arts for almost half a century.

By continuing to support the newly rebranded Royal Caribbean Music Makers, the cruise line is demonstrating its dedication to The Bahamas and helping the group fulfil its mission to preserve and enrich Bahamian culture for future generations.

Philip Simon, president of Royal Beach Club at Paradise Island and general manager of Royal Caribbean International Bahamas, commented with the occasion:

"This sponsorship has and will continue to boost both the spirit and competition of Junkanoo and create opportunities for greater exposure to a quintessential Bahamian experience.

“I hope one day every guest who visits The Bahamas will get a taste of Junkanoo and its incredibly vibrant energy.”

Along with financial backing, Royal Caribbean also provided the group with a visit to its Miami-based Entertainment Studios, where they met with the cruise line's skilled entertainment staff of producers, directors, performers, costume designers, and more.

Gary Russell, the executive chairman of Music Makers, described his company's partnership with Royal Caribbean as "a love affair" and expressed the gratitude of both the group and the community towards Royal Caribbean International for their kind donation.

Royal Caribbean has supported many local groups in the past, all of which work to showcase Bahamian culture, empower innovative entrepreneurs, and drive economic progress, as both educational and training institutions that have benefited from the company's financial backing.

The cruise company has also promised that the planned Royal Beach Club on Paradise Island would include local cuisine, music, and art as part of its dedication to the country of The Bahamas. The target year for the beach club's debut is 2025.

The Royal Caribbean Group is dedicated to "SEA the Future" via environmental preservation, community revitalization, and technological advancement, all of which the Bahamas tourism industry has been honouring and promoting for decades.
