British Airways Launches Redesigned App with Real-Time Travel Features

British Airways has begun rolling out a redesigned mobile app following months of beta testing, offering a faster and more intuitive travel companion with a range of new features aimed at making every stage of the journey easier to manage independently.

The new app introduces a modern design with a dedicated “day of travel” home screen that surfaces the most relevant information at the right moment. Boarding passes are always accessible within the app and can be saved to Apple and
Android wallets for offline use. Powered by real-time operational data, the app delivers live journey updates and push notifications for customers traveling through London Heathrow and Gatwick, as well as alerts across the wider network.

Self-service options have been significantly expanded, including the ability to change bookings directly in-app, passport scanning to reduce physical document checks, and biometric profile management. Airport-specific features include interactive terminal maps and, for customers at Heathrow Terminal 5, live lounge occupancy information.

British Airways Club members gain additional functionality in the new app — tracking Avios, Tier Points, and status progress, managing vouchers and statements, storing passport details, and viewing saved travel companions.

“We listened to our customers and recognised the need for a different app — one that prioritises the features that matter most,” said Colm Lacy, British Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer. “The initial phase of the rollout is just the beginning. We will continue to evolve the app over the coming weeks and months.”

Features already in development for future updates include real-time baggage tracking, Reward Flight and voucher redemption in-app, and greater personalisation tools.
