Frontier Airlines Takes Over Eight Former Spirit Routes from $39

Frontier Airlines has launched eight new routes this weekend that were previously operated by Spirit Airlines, stepping in to fill gaps left by the carrier’s collapse and keeping low-fare options alive across a dozen US cities.

The new services, which began on July 5 and 6, connect major markets including Boston, Detroit, Dallas-Fort Worth, Las Vegas, Kansas City, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Memphis, Richmond, and Orlando, with introductory one-way fares starting as low as $39.

Among the highlights: daily service between Detroit and Fort Lauderdale from $49, Dallas-Fort Worth to New Orleans from $39, Boston to Orlando from $69, and Las Vegas to Kansas City four times weekly from $69. Orlando gains three new connections to Memphis, Richmond, and Boston simultaneously.

“We are pleased to grow our service across the country to ensure low-cost flight options remain available to consumers as they plan their travel this summer and beyond,” said Josh Flyr, Vice President of Network and Operations Design at Frontier Airlines.

The expansion comes alongside a broader product overhaul Frontier is calling “The New Frontier.” Changes include UpFront Plus seating in the first two rows with extra legroom and a guaranteed empty middle seat, unlimited companion travel for top frequent flyers, and the introduction of First Class seating launching in 2026 — an unusual move for an ultra-low-cost carrier.

The airline’s Frontier Miles loyalty program offers a 10x miles-per-dollar base earning rate, with elite status achievable from 10,000 points and perks including priority boarding and free bags.
