Seven More ATR-42s for interCaribbean

News

To further expand its fleet, interCaribbean Airways has now completed the purchase of seven (7) more ATR-42s.

TAROM, S.A., the Romanian national carrier, sold them their fleet of small aircraft with 48 seats. After acquiring the ATRs from TAROM, interCaribbean Airways Chairman and founder Lyndon Gardiner said he was happy to have honoured his commitment to his nation. The Chairman declared his excitement to add the powerful planes to its company's fleet, which will significantly increase efficiency and adaptability, as interCaribbean aims to increase its presence in underserved areas, particularly in the eastern Caribbean.

After the deal concludes, interCaribbean will begin expanding services just in time for the summer high travel season. Since expanding into the eastern Caribbean in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, the carrier has been steadfast in its commitment to expanding capacity to keep up with rising demand for its services. Now, interCaribbean has made an important step toward that objective.

Chairman Gardiner expressed appreciation to TAROM for their cooperative stance to the deal, noting that interCaribbean will learn much from TAROM's environmentally friendly flying procedures, quality control in the airline business, and on-time delivery of the jets.

With TAROM's addition, the total number of ATRs under the company's management is now 10. By 2023's end, the business plans to phase out its fleet of Embraer 120 jets in favour of a fleet of newer, bigger planes that can better meet the needs of the expanding regions.

The airline recorded an 83% rise in the overall number of flights during Q1 as a result of the considerable growth in destinations from its new Barbados base, and a 109% increase in total passenger capacity.

interCaribbean, the most prominent privately-owned Caribbean carrier, has made great strides because to its unrivaled emphasis on the robust demand for domestic travel inside the area. In particular, it caters to the needs of governments, tourist organizations, airports, and passengers who have called for more access to regional air routes.
