Palma de Mallorca Airport Achieves Level 4 Carbon Accreditation

Palma de Mallorca Airport has been awarded Level 4 “Transformation” in the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) programme — a significant leap in sustainability just a few years after holding Level 2 in 2021.

This recognition from Airports Council International (ACI) confirms that Palma Airport is not only managing and reducing its own carbon emissions but is also actively transforming operations and collaborating with partners to drive collective climate action.

The ACA scheme measures an airport’s progress across seven stages of carbon management, with Level 4 marking a shift from incremental changes to broader systemic improvements. Palma’s advancements include energy efficiency upgrades, fleet electrification, and support for low-emission ground operations and transport.

The airport’s accelerated progress is part of Aena’s wider goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2030 across its Spanish airport network. For passengers, this certification underscores Palma’s commitment to more sustainable travel infrastructure.
