IHG Launches LINE MINI App in Thailand and Taiwan

IHG Launches LINE MINI App in Thailand and Taiwan

IHG Hotels & Resorts has expanded its digital presence in Asia with the launch of its LINE MINI App in Thailand and Taiwan, becoming the first hotel company to introduce its own LINE MINI App in both markets.

The expansion follows the launch of the IHG LINE MINI App in Japan last year, where the company has attracted more than four million followers on the platform.

The new service brings access to IHG’s portfolio of more than 7,000 hotels, IHG One Rewards membership and exclusive offers directly into LINE, one of the most widely used communication platforms in Asia.

IHG Brings Hotel Booking and Loyalty Features Directly to LINE

The LINE MINI App is designed to reduce the number of steps between discovering a hotel and completing a booking.

Users in Thailand and Taiwan can search and book stays across more than 7,000 IHG hotels worldwide directly through the platform.

IHG One Rewards Integration

The MINI App also provides access to IHG One Rewards. Users can register for the loyalty programme and sign in using their existing LINE credentials.

Once logged in, members can:

  • Search and book IHG hotels worldwide
  • Check their IHG One Rewards membership status
  • Track their points balance
  • Redeem rewards
  • Access member benefits and promotions
  • Use selected dining privileges in Thailand

Dean Jones, Vice President Commercial, East Asia & Pacific at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the expansion reflects the company’s strategy of bringing its booking services to digital platforms that travellers already use in their everyday lives.

“IHG has always championed a culture of firsts, and our digital acceleration is no exception. Becoming the first hotel company to launch a LINE MINI App in the Thailand and Taiwan markets reflects our commitment to meeting guests where they already spend their time and making it easier to discover, book and experience our brands. In Asia, platforms like LINE are woven into everyday life, and we’re excited to continue shaping the future of travel through the channels our guests know and trust.”

LINE Reaches 56 Million Users in Thailand and 22 Million in Taiwan

The launch gives IHG access to two markets where LINE has particularly strong penetration.

LINE has approximately 195 million monthly active users, including around 56 million users in Thailand and 22 million in Taiwan.

In Taiwan, that figure is equivalent to approximately 94% of the market’s population, making the messaging service an important digital channel for travel companies looking to reach consumers directly.

Rita Jiang, Chief Commercial & Marketing Officer, Greater China at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said:

“Our guests in the Thailand and Taiwan markets are deeply embedded in the LINE ecosystem, with the platform playing an integral role in their daily digital lives. This launch represents our ongoing commitment to deliver a mobile-first, frictionless experience, and we look forward to welcoming more guests in both markets to explore our exceptional hotel portfolio across the globe.”

IHG Launches LINE Promotions and Member Rewards

To coincide with the launch, IHG One Rewards is introducing a series of promotional initiatives throughout August.

In addition to hotel browsing, booking and points management, MINI App users will be able to participate in gamified experiences, earn LINE Points through selected promotions and access activities created specifically for IHG One Rewards members.

Sundae Kids Creates Limited-Edition LINE Stickers

IHG is also introducing a series of limited-edition, travel-inspired LINE stickers for users in Thailand.

The collection was created by illustrator duo Sundae Kids, known for comics centred around everyday moments and relationships.

The stickers form part of IHG’s wider launch campaign aimed at increasing engagement with travellers inside the LINE ecosystem.

IHG Continues Investment in Digital Travel Technology

The LINE MINI App expansion forms part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ broader digital strategy, which increasingly focuses on making travel planning, booking and loyalty services available through the platforms guests already use.

The hotel group has also been investing in tools including AI-powered conversational search and other digital services covering different stages of the guest journey.

By integrating hotel discovery, reservations and IHG One Rewards into LINE, the company is moving more of the booking process into a single digital environment rather than requiring travellers to switch between multiple platforms.

The launch in Thailand and Taiwan also extends a strategy already tested in Japan, strengthening IHG’s digital distribution and loyalty presence across some of LINE’s most important Asian markets.
