Accor has expanded its MGallery Collection portfolio in China with the opening of Financial City Chengdu – MGallery Collection, a new 155-room hotel in the heart of Chengdu Financial City.
The property becomes the third MGallery hotel in Chengdu and the brand’s tenth in China, strengthening Accor’s presence in one of Western China’s major business and tourism markets.
Located within Chengdu’s financial and corporate district, the hotel has been designed as an urban retreat combining contemporary hospitality with references to the city’s cultural and literary heritage.
“Chengdu’s rich cultural heritage and dynamic energy make it the perfect canvas for MGallery’s signature storytelling and bespoke guest experiences,” said Kent Zhu, Chief Executive Officer of Accor Greater China.
“Chengdu represents a vital anchor in Accor’s development strategy for Western China, a high-potential region where we have spent years cultivating deep partnerships and trusted brand equity.”
Design Inspired by Tang Dynasty Poetry
Australian design firm Stack Studio developed the interiors around imagery from Tang Dynasty poet Zhang Ji’s Song of Chengdu and, in particular, the idea of “wandering into a hidden lychee grove.”
A century-old local lychee tree on the ground floor introduces the concept on arrival and serves as one of the hotel’s defining design elements.
Seven floors above, the theme continues with Sky Garden, a landscaped rooftop space offering an open-air retreat above the surrounding business district.
The design incorporates further references to Chengdu and Sichuan’s landscapes, with guest rooms drawing inspiration from river mist, mountain fog and crimson sunsets.
The hotel offers 155 rooms and suites, catering to both business and leisure travellers while providing a quieter counterpoint to its location within one of Chengdu’s busiest commercial districts.
Restaurants and Rooftop Experiences
Financial City Chengdu – MGallery Collection features several dining and social venues.
Lychee Restaurant serves a combination of international and local cuisine, while Lychee Bar offers afternoon tea and MGallery’s signature cocktails.
The adjoining Sky Garden extends the food and beverage experience outdoors, with drinks and local flavours served in a landscaped rooftop setting.
For corporate functions and private events, the hotel provides approximately 480 square metres of flexible event space suitable for meetings, banquets and smaller celebrations.
A fitness centre with floor-to-ceiling windows and an outdoor terrace completes the main leisure facilities.
Sustainability Features Integrated Into the Hotel
The property incorporates a number of energy and water efficiency measures as part of Accor’s wider sustainability programme.
These include smart in-room energy management systems, water-saving fixtures, LED lighting and a programme aimed at reducing single-use plastics.
The building also uses insulated Low-E glass curtain walls and high-efficiency water-cooled magnetic-bearing chillers to reduce energy consumption.
MGallery Targets Further Growth in China
The opening comes as Accor continues to expand rapidly across Western China, where the group now has more than 230 hotels in operation and over 140 properties in development.
MGallery Collection currently operates 10 hotels in China and plans to double its Greater China portfolio by 2030.
Upcoming destinations for the brand include Pujiang, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Sanya and Lanxi.
Globally, MGallery Collection has more than 120 hotels across over 40 countries. Its 2026 expansion also includes new properties such as V Villas Maldives at Mirihi – MGallery Collection and Navera Phuket – MGallery Collection.
