Air India to launch nonstop Delhi–Osaka flights in February 2027

Air India to launch nonstop Delhi–Osaka flights in February 2027

Air India will launch nonstop flights between Delhi and Osaka’s Kansai International Airport on 2 February 2027, adding a second Japanese destination to its network.

The airline plans to operate four flights a week in each direction using Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Air India says it will be the only carrier offering nonstop service between the two cities.

Osaka will join Tokyo Haneda, which Air India currently serves daily from Delhi and four times a week from Mumbai.

Delhi–Osaka flight schedule

The outbound service will leave Delhi late in the evening and arrive in Osaka the following morning. Return flights will depart Osaka before midday and reach Delhi that evening.

Route Flight Departure Arrival Operating days
Delhi–Osaka Kansai AI360 22:50 09:50 the following day Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday
Osaka Kansai–Delhi AI359 11:50 18:20 Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Sunday

All times are local. The service launches on 2 February 2027.

The Boeing 787-8 scheduled for the route has 18 fully flat beds in Business Class and 241 seats in Economy, giving the aircraft a total capacity of 259 passengers.

The timetable is intended to support connections through Delhi to destinations across Air India’s domestic and international network.

More options for multi-city Japan trips

The Osaka addition will allow passengers to fly into one Japanese city and return from another. Travellers could arrive in Osaka and depart from Tokyo, or take the journey in reverse, without returning to their original arrival airport.

This option suits itineraries combining Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, often referred to as Japan’s “Golden Route”. Kansai International Airport provides an entry point for visitors exploring Osaka and the wider Kansai region.

Demand for Japan travel continues to grow

Air India’s expansion comes amid rising travel demand between India and Japan.

According to Japan National Tourism Organization figures cited by the airline, Japan welcomed more than 315,000 Indian visitors in 2025, up 35% on 2024 and nearly 80% above pre-pandemic levels.

Air India points to interest in Japan’s cultural, culinary and leisure attractions, alongside business links, as factors supporting demand.

Flights are being progressively released for booking through the airline’s website, mobile app, contact centre, airport ticket offices and travel agents.
