London Gatwick will gain a new Middle East connection next spring with the launch of twice-daily flights to Sharjah, operated by Air Arabia. Beginning 29 March 2026, the route will be the only direct service between the UK and the Emirate of Sharjah. Flights will be operated using Airbus A321LR aircraft.
The addition lifts Gatwick’s total Middle East capacity to 80 flights per week across destinations in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
Demand for travel to the region continues to climb: Gatwick recorded a 22.7% increase in passengers flying to Middle Eastern destinations this summer. Airlines have responded with more capacity, including Wizz Air’s XLR routes to Medina and Jeddah, Qatar Airways’ 787-9s on Doha services, Saudia’s expanded Neom Bay frequencies, and Gulf Air’s strong performance on its Bahrain route in its first summer at the airport.

The launch comes as Gatwick prepares for further growth. Jet2 will begin operations at the airport in March 2026 with 29 routes, Condor will add three daily Frankfurt flights, and Skybus now connects Gatwick with Cornwall Airport Newquay.
