UNWTO encourages tourists to visit Egypt
Officials from the World Tourism Organization have called for lifting of travel bans for tourists
Members of UNWTO Executive Council meeting in Malaga Spain have addressed the global security issue in tourism. The Council, chaired by the Egyptian Minister of Tourism, His Excellency Yehia Rashed, focused on ways to defeat terrorism so that international tourism and economy in the world can recover.
UNWTO's call to lift all unnecessary travel bans, as well as the call for tourists to actively visit Egypt were warmly welcomed by Yehia Rashed.
"I fully support the UNWTO's positive message today that all unnecessary bans on travel and tourism should be lifted. Egypt has taken significant positive steps in addressing security issues and the UNWTO's support is to be warmly welcomed. I call upon all those countries who currently possess flight restrictions to consider the UNWTO's request positively. The support of such an influential United Nations body inviting the world to Egypt marks the start of a great opportunity for Egyptian tourism,” His Excellency declared.
Minister Yehia Rashed will chair the UNWTO Executive Council for the next 12 months. During his mandate, he plans to implement the ‘6×6 Tourism Impact Plan’ both to boost the Egyptian tourism and address the critical aspects of the tourism sector today.
