The world leaders condemn 'barbaric' terrorist attacks in Paris as they offer condolences and support

President Xi Jinping of China expressed his deepest condolences and sympathy to the French President Francois Hollande on the terrifying terrorist attacks in Paris on Friday evening.

“At the sorrowful moment of the French people, I, on behalf of the Chinese government and the Chinese people, and personally, condemn in the strongest terms the barbaric acts”, Xi said.

The whole world shows its solidarity with France, as at least 120 people were killed and 180 injured during the simultaneous shootings and explosions in the French capital, and aims to increase cooperation in security, fight terrorism and ensure safety of people.

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II on Saturday declared she was “deeply shocked” by the terror attacks:

“Prince Philip and I have been deeply shocked and saddened by the terrible loss of life in Paris.

“We send our most sincere condolences to the families of those who have died and the French people.”

Prince Charles, at the time in an official visit in Australia, expressed his “particular sympathy and solidarity with everybody in France”.

“Our hearts go out, and I’m sure you will agree, to all those who have been affected in the most dreadful way, by these bestial attacks”, he said.

On Saturday, Pope Francis also considered the killings unjustifiable and "inhuman".

"There is no justification for these things. This is not human”, the Pope declared, as he prayed for all the injured, the victims and their families.

“It’s an attack not just on the people of France. But this is an attack on all of humanity and the universal values we share.

“We’re going to do whatever it takes to work with the French people and with nations around the world to bring these terrorists to justice and to go after any terrorist networks that go after our people.

“Those who think that they can terrorize the people of France or the values that they stand for are wrong.

“We are reminded in this time of tragedy that the bonds of liberte, egalite, fraternite, are not just the values French people share, but we share”, US President Barack Obama said in an address at the White House.

Despite the political tension between the two countries, Russia joined the world in showing its support to France in these difficult times. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated:

“Russia strongly condemns this inhumane killing and is ready to provide any and all assistance to investigate these terrorist crimes.

“It’s obvious that an effective fight against this evil demands a real unity of the forces of the international community. I would like to confirm the readiness of Russia for the closest cooperation with our French partners in investigating the crime that took place in Paris.

“In this difficult time for France, I ask you to pass along words of sincere sympathy and support to the relatives and those near to those who were killed and wishes for a fast recovery to all those who were hurt at the hands of extremists.”

The shocking recent attacks follow the killing of 12 people, in January, at the offices of French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo.
