Quito mayor Mauricio Rodas has transmitted a simple for the world: “the best way to help Ecuador is to visit Ecuador”, as its country has been hit by a devastating 7.8 Richter scale earthquake on April 16th.

According to the mayor's opinion, the best way to help Ecuador recover is to sustain recovery and rebuilding efforts of the nationals by continuing visiting the amazing country, despite difficulties and latest events.

Mayor Rodas has also reassured tourists that the city of Quito is safe for visits, as the new city has suffered minor damage and the old city hasn't been affected by the shake. All facilities, including cultural hot-spots, city attractions, hotels, restaurants and airport are open and fully functional.

“Tourism is a vital part of the Ecuadorean economy. For every foreign visitor, up to seven jobs are created. Now, more than ever, we need to open our doors, lay out a welcome mat, and enthusiastically promote all Ecuador has to offer. If you were considering a trip to the Amazon, the Andes or the Galapagos, we want you to visit. As the gateway to Ecuador, we welcome you with open arms. We need you to visit. The best way to help Ecuador is to visit Ecuador”, the mayor added, as he asked tourists to avoid cancelling of trips.
