Iraqi airspace forbidden for US

Tourist Bureau

By Michael Bobbin |

The Federal Aviation Administration has forwarded a notice regarding the prohibition of US airlines from flying over Iraqi airspace. The committee’s decision is a repercussion of military conflict risk presented by the area.

This ban in particular is related to the US intervention in northern Iraq, against local militants.

Previous warnings have regulated a 30.000 feet flight limit in order to avoid the military clashes in the area.

This update on the local situation corresponds to “the potentially hazardous situation created by the armed conflict”.

The current prohibition is bound to be in full effect at least until the end of 2014.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 has also fueled the current status, as air tragedy struck yet again.

The Malaysian carrier aircraft has crashed in an area fueled with conflict between separatists and Ukranian governmental forces.

Another FAA order regarding the US has been issued on July 22, when a rocket fell close to the Tel Aviv airport.

Measures as such are meant to maintain a risk free environment for the general public, this will also enable a more stable climate for the travel industry as well.

Travelwires.com will keep you posted on the subject as it will develop towards the end of the year.
