Travel Business

By Michael Bobbin |

International Airlines Group has reported a 30% profit increase in their third quarter forecast.

This recent rise in profits has to do with the Iberia recovery as it continues to cover ground. The numbers speak for themselves as both British Airways and Iberia have risen to €900 million in the third quarter of 2014, with just €690 million in 2013.

International Airlines Group have added that they have had an expectancy of annual operating profits of €550m-€600m.

IAG also owns Vueling Airline, operating out of Spain.

“We continued to grow capacity efficiently and both our non-fuel and fuel unit cost performances were strong with the latter boosted by the introduction of new, more efficient aircraft into our fleet.” - IAG chief executive Willie Walsh

British Airways profits rose to €607m from €477m in 2013 while Iberia profits showed a radical increase rising to €162 million in 2014 in comparison to the €74 million reported last year.

The increase in air traffic trend globally shows a recovery both in the economic sector, as well as the travel one.
