Eurostar is starting a new year-round service to Geneva via Lille. The new Switzerland service is in partnership with international high-speed train service TGV Lyria.

The new Geneva service will offer four daytime services each week, which means passengers can real and also enjoy the landscape of France and Switzerland before arriving at the destination.

A recent Eurostar survey showed that Geneva is one of the most desirable destinations for British travellers.

For tourists that want to adventure further, the Geneva route offers a convenient way to travel to other popular Swiss destinations such as Sion, Brig, Aigle, Visp, Sierre and Martigny.

Starting with May 2015, Geneva will be joined by Lyon, Avignon and Marseille on its growing list of destinations. Amsterdam will follow in late 2016.

"The Geneva service represents another important milestone in our ambition to encourage and allow more people to travel further by high-speed rail. Our latest research indicates customers have a real appetite to access popular European destinations in a more civilized way. We offer easy access to travellers looking for a city break in Geneva and a point of access to some of the best ski resorts in Europe. With our generous baggage allowance, high-speed rail becomes an attractive alternative to flying," said Nick Mercer, commercial director, Eurostar.
