Finavia Hiring 120 Staff at Four Finnish Lapland Airports for Winter
Finavia has launched its annual winter season recruitment drive, opening 120 positions across four tourism-driven airports in northern Finland — Rovaniemi, Kittilä, Ivalo, and Kuusamo — with applications accepted from June 8, 2026.
The hiring will more than double the permanent workforce at these airports, reflecting the extreme seasonality of air travel in Finnish Lapland, where passenger volumes multiply during the winter months. The season now begins in November and extends into spring, with the Christmas period remaining the peak window.
"We are looking for both long-term professionals and employees starting their careers, for whom the airport may be one of their first jobs," said Jonna Pietilä, Finavia's Regional Director of Northern Finland and Lapland Airports. "The airport offers a huge number of different positions, so the employees' different backgrounds and skills add value to the airport community."
Training for new hires focuses on service attitude, peak hour management, and airport security procedures. Finavia notes that many seasonal applicants return year after year, which it views as a sign of strong employer appeal.
The recruitment drive comes on the back of strong passenger satisfaction scores. In 2025, nearly 95 percent of passengers at the four airports reported being satisfied with their airport experience, with security control rated above 4.6 out of 5. International passenger numbers grew significantly across all four airports last year, with Rovaniemi seeing a 44 percent rise in international traffic to over 600,000 passengers, and Kittilä recording a 21 percent increase. The UK was the largest source of international visitors at all four airports.
