A team of 40 employees of The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa, Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat and the newly opened Oyster Box travel to London on Tuesday 23 March to attend the prestigious Red Carnation Hotel Collection, Annual Staff Appreciation and Recognition Gala Dinner, held annually at the Hilton Hotel in Park Lane. This event recognises and rewards staff for their service and skills excellence and includes the three South African 5-star, award winning properties. The awards ceremony recognises employees in all facets of a Hotel who have demonstrated service excellence in their respective fields. In addition to providing the opportunity for hotel staff from across three continents to meet, there is the opportunity to share ideas, learn more about the company’s vision, obtain a much greater insight in to the Red Carnation Hotel Collection as well as to enjoy and sight see London, one of the worlds great Capitals.
This opportunity is offered to all employees with the Red Carnation Collection in South Africa with to date nearly 100 persons from all levels of staff within the Hotels having experienced this opportunity. The employees will fly to London for one week, a number of whom have never left the borders of South Africa or been on a plane. The Gala dinner is a highlight on the UK’s travel industry’s calendar. Award categories include, General Manager of the year, Executive Chef of The year, Housekeeper of the Year, Back of House Manager of the Year, Cocktail Barman of the year to name just a few.
States Clive Bennett, Managing Director of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection in South Africa: “We believe that it is paramount to reward staff in such a way and present them with an opportunity to grow and develop their skill set, which maximises their professional and personal potential. Investing in the growth and development of our staff through this type of International opportunity, which for many is something they would never have considered possible is a point of material differentiation.
It is something the owners have developed as a culture of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection and is an integral part of the development and reward program for those who are outstanding achievers. While in the UK they are afforded the opportunity to experience the London Hotels within the Red Carnation Hotel Collection and this helps them to create vital synergies here within their respective careers and to gain a flavour and small insight in to the Hotel business in another country”.
