SA Tourism to repair KZN primary school
Finance team staff members at South African Tourism are showing off their caring hearts. When they go on their annual team building Lekgotla next Monday they will take an extra day to reach out to and work with the children and staff at a primary school in St Lucia, KwaZulu-Natal.
The Indukebandla Junior Primary School has about 600 learners. Besides being a school, the facility is also an orphanage where children are homed, fed and where they learn skills such as computer literacy, sewing, woodworking and vegetable gardening.
The team from South African Tourism has committed to repair toilets doors, windows, and security gates at the school and orphanage. South African Tourism will also replace blackboards, paint the classrooms and smarten up the exterior of the building. They will donate two sewing machines to the orphanage.
Each of the 600 learners will receive a bag of goodies, and the children will also be taught the world-famous Diski Dance in celebration of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
Says Johan Van der Walt, Chief Finance Officer at South African Tourism: “I’m certain the improvements we are going to make and the gifts we will leave will help the children and their community. It feels good to do something constructive to help. It feels really, really good.”
