The Blue Train honoured with World’s Leading Luxury Train Award
Hailed the Oscars of the travel world, the 16th Annual World Travel Awards were recently held in London and The Blue Train was awarded the prestigious World’s Leading Luxury Train Award.
Not only does this bode well for the train itself, but also for its onboard magazine title, The Blue Train magazine.
“We are extremely happy for The Blue Train and offer them our congratulations,” says Noeleen Maholwana-Sangqu, CEO of African Spirit Media, who are the publishers of The Blue Train magazine. “It is indeed a great honour and we’d like to think that the onboard magazine has made some contribution to the ‘palace on wheels’ in winning this award.”
Accepting the award at the glittering red-carpet event, Hanlie Kotze, the Acting Executive Manager of The Blue Train, comments, “We are absolutely delighted and honoured to receive this award. Being named Africa’s Leading Luxury Train earlier this year was a great achievement, but being voted the World’s best is just the ‘cherry on the cake’ and the fact that we were voted for by over 180,000 industry professionals – a record on its own – makes it even more special.”
For more than 60 years, The Blue Train has enjoyed an international reputation as one of the world’s unsurpassed travelling experiences. The routes of The Blue Train, both scheduled and chartered, take guests through some of the most breathtaking countryside to be found anywhere in the world. Their guest list is made up of 80% international tourists, all of whom are seasoned travellers, accustomed to the highest levels of service and luxury.
“With The Blue Train magazine now in its third year of circulation, we continue to offer passengers an outstanding read, which explores local and international getaway options, the worlds of business, technology and motoring; social trends and much, much more. The title also offers our advertisers a niche market to target,” says Maholwana-Sangqu.
The Blue Train magazine is placed in guests’ suites and in the Observation Lounge onboard The Blue Train, additionally the magazine is available in The Blue Train Lounge and in the Business Class Lounges at international airports in South Africa. Together with the strategic partners of The Blue Train, who also receive the magazine for their customers, the magazine reaches only the most exclusive audience in the highest LSM category, offering advertisers great value.
