Mashovhela Lodge selected for Dutch Tourism Mentorship

Mashovhela Lodge situated just north of Louis Trichardt in the Soutpansberg Mountains of South Africa has been selected to be part of the Netherlands’ governments Export Coaching Program for tourism.

This program run through an agency of the Netherlands government, the CBI (Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries), offers support to companies in developing countries to achieve sustainable exports to Europe through guidance and training in order to build contacts in the various European markets.

Marketing Manager for Mashovhela Lodge, Peter Morrison says “It is an honour to be have been included for the program as only a few properties from around the world are invited and I appreciate the CBI in having faith in us”.

“The European market has always been a target market for Mashovhela Lodge and Europeans that have visited us have really enjoyed our nature and authentic cultural experience. The program will now give us the opportunity to break into the European Market in a more planned, educated and systematic way. The benefits will be further reaching than just increasing our occupancy it will create more job opportunities for the local community as well as bring in much needed revenue for the Venda villages our guests get to visit.” Morrison adds.

Mashovhela Lodge has already been recognised globally for its eco-friendly and responsible tourism and has been awarded by the Wilderness Foundation (WILD) with its highest award the Gold Leaf.

“With the present Copenhagen summit on climate change and the world interest there is definitely a trend for travellers and travel agents, especially in Europe to choose a green alternative when deciding between destinations that offer a similar experience” claims Morrison.
