Apart from offering breakdown and accident assistance in the Van Reenen’s Pass area, The Road Safety Foundation has been operating an extensive Medical Community Service in the area for the past 27 years. Their contribution to the assistance and upliftment of rural schools has been a silent lifesaver for many communities who receive little or no support from other initiatives.
Hertz has come on board yet again; their sponsorship contribution covering the meals, fuel, tyre and other running costs of the medical crews operating in the area. This medical crew – comprised of volunteer paramedics and doctors from around the country – facilitates the free dental and optical treatment, medical testing (including HIV, Diabetes, TB etc), nutritional evaluation of more than 900 children from the area.
Complementary services provided include the promotion of sports and supply of relevant equipment as well as educational assistance (such as the introduction of computers).
