Visa concludes a sponsorship agreement with Time Out

19 Nov

Visa, one of the Worldwide Partners of the 2010 FIFA World Cup ™, has signed a sponsorship agreement with New Media Publishing, the local publishers of the internationally recognised Time Out brand. The sponsorship agreement covers three of the four local Time Out magazines – Time Out Cape Town Weekend Breaks, Time Out Cape Town for Visitors and Time Out South Africa 2010 City Guide.

Time Out is an iconic brand that promises readers up-to-date insider information on all the latest hotspots – whether it’s sightseeing, art galleries, shopping or clubbing, the great outdoors, or the best spas.

Says Nadine Mouton, Visa’s Marketing Manager: “The sponsorship of these magazines has given us an opportunity to promote our partnership with FIFA and assist in promoting South Africa as an attractive tourist destination. This communication platform appeals to both international and local travellers and allows us to demonstrate that your Visa card is all you need in a travel companion – allowing for safe and convenient transactions all across South Africa.”

Time Out South Africa 2010 City Guide will combine the trademark Time Out depth of content with a focus on the towns and cities that are hosting the 2010 soccer matches. The directory was specially conceptualised for the event and will have a strong user-friendly focus. With a print run of 60 000, the magazine will be available from April 2010.

“The Time Out brand has been growing consistently over the last few years – not surprising, as tourism plays such a huge part in our economy. Across the four products we now have a print run of over 300 000 copies, which allows us to offer advertisers far more reach than ever before,” comments Andrew Nunneley, Publishing Director at New Media Publishing.

The sponsorship does not only include magazines available during the international tournament. Time Out Cape Town Weekend Breaks is now on sale to Capetonians who want to appreciate the Western Cape to its fullest during spring/summer 2009. Time Out Cape Town for Visitors is targeted at tourists visiting the city and will be on shelves from December 2009.

New Media Publishing, in partnership with the Cape Town Partnership’s Central City Improvement District (CCID), also produces the Time Out Cape Town Best of Cape Town Central City, a guide to the city’s central business district. This guide will be available in November 2009 and will have a print run of 200 000 copies.
