The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel groups in the world, today announced the grand opening of the Radisson Blu Port Elizabeth – the friendly city’s first international luxury branded five star hotel.

The 173 room property, valued at R330 million and situated at Summerstrand’s beachfront, captures magnificent panoramic views of Algoa Bay and is within walking distance of blue flag beaches, the Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment Complex, Oceanarium and several museums and is 5 minutes from the city’s airport.

Contemporary, chic and urban interiors, sophisticated furnishings along with amenities like award-winning Italian inspired Filini Restaurant, Tabu bar and lounge, Camelot Spa and a state of the art gym, SPACE will ensure that Radisson Blu Hotel Port Elizabeth is the city’s flagship destination for hospitality, recreation, dining, meetings and events.

The rooms and suites, with uninterrupted sea views,  offer individual climate control and flat-panel LCD televisions with a large selection of satellite channels.  Free wireless internet access is offered to all registered guests. The hotel incorporates “smart building” technology that enhances sustainability and energy conservation.

For business travelers and events companies, Radisson Blu Hotel Port Elizabeth offers  a fully equipped business and events centre, as well as several banqueting and conference facilities.

“The grand opening of the Radisson Blu Hotel Port Elizabeth marks a special occasion for the Rezidor Hotel Group.  The Eastern Cape province is on a rapid business and economic expansion course, especially through Coega,” commented Mr Kurt Ritter, President and CEO of Rezidor Hotel Group.

“As the gateway to the Garden Route, the water sports capital of Africa and a string of five star malaria-free game viewing reserves now including the “Big Seven”, Port Elizabeth is constantly increasing its popularity amongst international tourists, and thus an important destination to offer world-class and award-wining hospitality,” he says.

Says Ben Nyaumwe, owner of the hotel and CEO of Auspex Property, “Our sales and marketing department is looking forward to offering various leisure and business packages to operators.   Port Elizabeth is also fast becoming a regular weekend getaway destination for local/regional leisure travelers, particularly from Gauteng. ”
