One&Only Cape Town unveils ‘The Penthouse’
Situated in the heart of Cape Town’s fashionable Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, with extraordinary views of two iconic World Heritage sites – Table Mountain and Robben Island – as well as Cape Town Stadium – one of the 2010 FIFA World Cup venues – The Penthouse at One&Only Cape Town is amongst the most desirable in the world, bringing an unprecedented level of sophisticated luxury accommodation to South Africa.
The Penthouse is the latest addition to the resort’s 131 room and suite inventory, accommodating up to eight guests.
Located on the top two floors of the resort’s chic crescent-shaped Marina Rise, the four-bedroom Penthouse covers 1,358 square meter (14,617 square foot), including a 282 square meter (3,035 square foot) pool deck.
In an exclusive environment that embraces the award-winning One&Only resort experience, guests will enjoy a lifestyle of contemporary elegance and dynamic energy. Masterfully conceived and detailed, the expansive Penthouse was created in harmony with South Africa’s vibrant personality, combining artisan furnishings with all the essentials of 21st century modernity.
Guests will enjoy an unrivalled manner of gracious living. With a contemporary design and exceptional layout showcasing Cape Town’s stunning scenery and iconic landscapes from all vantage points, The Penthouse’s interior design reflects a romantic travel diary to the furthest corners of the globe.
The entrance lobby leads into a library and features shiny black doors and black and grey flower-motif wallpaper that are playfully offset with a rich yellow couch, reminiscent of a romantic era when Coco Channel was all the rage. A moulded screen covers a double-volume wall, symbolising an ancient Indian hand carved craft and adds a tranquil quality and timeless value to the expansive space that lies ahead.

A hallway leads to four bedrooms, a study with a fireplace and a fitness centre and sauna on the first floor, whilst a black marble staircase leads to the entertainment areas on the top floor.
The Penthouse’s bedrooms feature en-suite bathrooms and balconies overlooking Table Mountain, whilst the master bedroom offer his and hers bathrooms, walk-in dressing room and a fireplace. The bedrooms have a distinct personalised ambiance with period pieces and décor elements accentuating the diverse destinations in the travel diary: the first bedroom offers guests accommodation in neutral colours and fabrics, including white drapes encrusted with crystals, a rain shower and oyster and sea foam colours about; the second and third bedrooms reflect a contemporary old-world feel with Indochinese influences heightened by Eastern romance pieces in the light-grey second room and a bulky antique travel chest and Tibetan Batik headboard in the dark-grey third room; the black furniture and period pieces in the spacious master bedroom reflect a fusion of French and Eastern influences in a contemporary Cape Town fashion whilst bedside lampshades covered in black feathers complete the journey.
The first floor also houses a 282 square meter (3,035 square foot) pool deck with chaise loungers, outdoor barbeque and bar service facilities, dining table and chairs and an outside shower – the perfect spot for informal dining, lazing in the afternoon sun or a formal cocktail party at sunset.
The white flowing into black theme is repeated in reverse on the top floor that offers two lounges, a dining room, kitchen, pantry, water features and open decks for entertaining.
The fully equipped kitchen has state-of-the-art equipment and a breakfast alcove for informal dining. Here the French country house design includes a French armoire, Louis armchairs, Belgian sofa and ottoman and a farmhouse coffee table. The kitchen’s ample workspaces are covered in sleek Italian Carrara marble and the black Milan look is complimented by designer glass ornaments.
A temperature-controlled wine loft houses a collection of 280 bottles of the Cape’s finest wines and vintage Champagnes, personally selected by the resort’s Sommeliers from the One&Only Cape Town’s award winning wine list.
The informal sun lounge, reminiscent of a Bahamas tented gazebo offers crisp white cotton curtaining and upholstery, oversized sofas and exotic accents. This Ralph Lauren chic-inspired space offers a welcome retreat with magnificent panoramic views. The formal lounge area with metallic glamour about, such as modern circular sofas and chairs and mirrored tables, evoke memories of a Las Vegas Piano Lounge with a baby Grand Piano to complete the luxurious setting.
In addition to the expert services of butler, concierge and housekeeper, guests have unlimited access to all resort offerings. Guests will also enjoy the acclaimed One&Only lifestyle at One&Only Spa Cape Town, state-of-the-art Fitness Centre, heated infinity-edge pool, Vista Lounge & Bar, Wine Loft and NEO boutique. The renowned Nobu Japanese restaurant and maze by Gordon Ramsay will offer private a la carte catering.
