Win 2 nights stay and game drives at Thula Thula for naming baby rhino

  • Google Buzz
Two months after their lone White Rhino, Heidi was tragically killed by poachers; Thula Thula Game Reserve has welcomed a four month old baby White Rhino onto the reserve. Relocated to Thula Thula this week, the 165kg youngster arrived after a fourteen hour long trip from Limpopo and was released on the reserve by his adopted family. He has since settled well into his new environment.

The Rhino was originally rescued by the Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre in Limpopo after being rejected by his mother at birth. Moholoholo Animal Rehabilitation Centre, a non profit organisation, is dedicated to the rehabilitation of abandoned and injured wildlife, and their re-introduction into their natural environments.

Thula Thula is situated two hours northeast of Durban in a malaria free area.  The reserve, which boasts an elegant eight suite safari lodge and a luxury tented camp, abounds with wildlife including the breeding herd of Elephant that were reintroduced to the area in 1999. Thula Thula is owned by well known conservationist Lawrence, and his wife Francoise Anthony. Lawrence’s rehabilitation of a herd of seven rogue African Elephants, is recounted in his latest book, “The Elephant Whisperer” which was released in June 2009.

Thula Thula needs your help in naming their Rhino. Please send your name suggestions to thula@netactive.co.za.  The chosen name will win:

The winner will be treated to a two night stay for two at the beautiful Elephant Safari Lodge, on a full board basis, including two game activities per day. They will also receive a signed copy of Lawrence Anthony’s book “The Elephant Whisperer”

Closing date for entries 15 November
