Louise Ainslie presents ‘from here to there’ landscapes exhibition
I caught up with Louise Ainslie to find out more about her exhibition currently taking place (15th of October to 15th of November ) at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town. The theme of my exhibition is ‘from there to there’ and the pieces showcase landscapes around Cape Town and the Western Cape, and take us on a roadtrip up the Eastern Cape, where she was born in Bedford.
My passion for landscapes and beautiful surroundings was inevitably imprinted on my mind from a very early age having being born and bred on a beautiful farm outside Bedford in the Eastern Cape.
‘from here to there’ takes us on a journey from where I am now in cape town, back to my roots in Bedford.
The pieces showcase various spots around cape town, images taken on the road trip home, and finally arriving at the back gate of the farm house where I grew up.
Each image captures it’s scene with vibrancy and grandeur, and depicts the landscapes of the western and eastern capes in true style.
All these images have a special significance to my soul, and by sharing them with anybody and everybody, I hope to diffuse an appreciation for our country, and for what is really just on our doorstep.
Although I swopped my barefeet, gravel roads and mountains for shoes, tar macs and buildings, the vast, wide open spaces of these landscapes are never too far from my mind.
The barefoot little farm girl is still very much a part of my soul, and I try to live with that same carefree attitude that I had back then…to dance like no one is watching.
