Crowne Plaza Johannesburg hosts US music group – The O’JAYS
Jozi’s trendiest business cosmopolitan hotel Crowne Plaza Johannesburg – The Rosebank will host the US soul sensation the O’JAYS during their concert in Johannesburg on Wednesday, 14 October.
The O’JAYS is in South Africa for their Sunshine Tour that will take them to the Main Festival at MACUFE on Saturday, 10 October 2009; Cape Town on Tuesday, 13 October and Johannesburg at the Coca Cola Dome on Wednesday, 14 October 2009.
Crowne Plaza Johannesburg – The Rosebank is offering all music lovers fantastic specials for an overnight stay at the hotel to see the show.
“We are excited to be involved as sponsors of this fantastic extravaganza of classic soul which is one of the highlights on the music calendar for 2009,” said Trevor Latimer, general manager.
Living legends and true American treasures, the O’JAYS is the world’s most enduringly popular soul group. Their sound – smooth, rich harmonies backed by elaborate arrangements, lush strings, and a touch of contemporary funk – is globally revered as Philadelphia Soul. Equally famous for their soothing love ballads and up-tempo dance tunes, the O’JAYS is as fresh and contemporary today as when they started nearly five decades ago!
The O’JAYS international hit For the Love of Money is the theme song of South African radio station SAFM’s popular finance and business programme Market Update with MoneyWeb. It is also the theme song of the international hit TV reality show The Apprentice, starring Donald Trump; this is (amusingly) ironic considering that the lyrics of the song warn of “the evil people will do for the love of money”.
