African Sun bags Royal Chundu Zambezi River Lodge management contract
African Sun Limited recognised as the fastest growing hospitality group in sub-Saharan Africa, is committed to managing a portfolio of the finest hotels, lodges and resorts in Africa’s prime destinations. In keeping with this philosophy, this pioneering hotel group has recently acquired the Royal Chundu Zambezi River Lodge, which not only launches their presence into Zambia, but also introduces the first 5* luxury lodge to their discerning guest profile. Not that they are in unfamiliar territory, as they are already well known for their luxury offerings at both The Grace in Rosebank in Johannesburg, as well as the renowned Victoria Falls Hotel.
Situated on the Livingstone side of ‘the Falls’, at the junction of Zambia, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe, this boutique Lodge has the unique ability to offer both mainland and private island accommodation right in the middle of the mighty Zambezi River. Comprising of a total of 14 rooms, described as Mainland or Island Suite Lodges, it has been carefully structured so as to take advantage of year-round reservations in what is certainly regarded as one of Southern Africa’s most booming tourism regions. Royal Chundu Zambezi River Lodge is expected to open its doors on the 15th November 2009 after refurbishments.
A bird watcher’s paradise (450 species and more), Royal Chundu is a distinctly African luxury Lodge, a place of picturesque beauty that merges seamlessly with nature. Other activities will include canoe trips, game viewing, and fishing, as well as tours of nearby Katambora Tribal Village. Not forgetting the opportunity of visiting the renowned Victoria Falls themselves, (Zimbabwe side is recommended), or embarking upon one of the many different adventure activities this African destination is renowned for.
With an emphasis on personal attention, it has been decided that the menus and food choices will further compliment this intimate experience; added to that an infinity swimming pool on the main land and private plunge pools on the island. A deluxe spa will also be available to the pampering needs of the guests.
Accessibility will be either via Victoria Falls or Livingstone, both a mere one hour flight from Johannesburg. As a member of African Sun Limited, the opportunities to package the new Royal Chundu Zambezi Lodge together with the Victoria Falls Hotel and The Grace in Rosebank, will offer guests a sublime experience in three different destinations.
Under the astute guidance of dynamic Group Chief Executive, Shingi Munyeza, African Sun Limited has established itself as a prestigious African-based hospitality company in both the international and local tourism arenas. The opening of Royal Chundu is proof yet again of the group’s ambition to grow their current room index from 3 000 to 8 500 by 2012.
