Serena Hotels acquires Ranch on the Lake in Uganda

Serena Hotels has extended its portfolio in Uganda with the acquisition of a new resort property that will complement its existing 5 star city hotel, The Kampala Serena Hotel.

Previously known as the Ranch on the Lake, the new addition which has been renamed Lake Victoria Serena Resort, is wholly owned by the Pearl Development Group and will be managed by Serena Hotels under its local company, TPS (Uganda). It is set to be officially opened on October 1st 2009.

Located just 30km from Entebbe International Airport and 15Km from Kampala city, Lake Victoria Serena Resort is idyllically set on the shores of Africa’s largest fresh water Lake and source of the River Nile, Lake Victoria.

It has a total of 124 spacious guest rooms, each with a private balcony offering stunning views of the Lake, a choice of restaurants and bars and the state-of- the- art conferencing facilities that make it an ideal venue for out of town conferences and workshops. The resort also boasts a fully fledged Spa facility alongside a modern gymnasium, featuring the latest in digital work-out technology.

An 18-hole golf course and a marina attached to the Resort are currently under construction and will be open by end of year 2010.

The Serena Hotels’ Managing Director, Mr. Mahmud Janmohamed said: “Serena is an internationally recognized brand with a strong presence in Uganda. With this new property we hope to help broaden the appeal of Lake Victoria as a destination by offering both a value for money product and the reliability that goes with an internationally respected name”.
