I’m sure you would have noticed by now, that I just love profiling entrepreneurs and for the purposes of this blog, I’ll stick to tourism entrepreneurs (AlreadyInspired.com caters for entrepreneurs from diverse industries). It’s been my passion since teenage years reading about entrepreneurs and all credit goes to my late mum who instilled the entrepreneurship love in me.
There is a variety of reasons why I get such a pleasure reading how someone started his/her business:
1. Getting to learn how others have been able to create a thriving business from an idea
2. That it’s possible to fail and rebuild from that failure
3. Innovation, doing things differently inspires me a great deal
4. Making a living from a hobby, nothing beats getting paid for doing what you love
5. Knowing that all big brands today, also started small and grew with time.
I normally approach tourism operators privately to feature them on the blog, where they share their road to starting their own businesses. I’m now extending this opportunity to all tourism entrepreneurs to share their stories, on how it all began. Along the way obstacles had to be conquered, now it’s your turn to tell us your story and also share the challenges that you face on a daily basis while you attend to your guests.
By sharing your challenges, you stand to learn from other entrepreneurs and grow in the process. I’ve prepared a set of questions below to make it easy for you to answer:
1. Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your tourism business?
2. What were you doing before launching your tourism business and what inspired it?
3. What is your educational background?
5. What three industry blogs do you read daily, to stay abreast of your sector?
6. What does a press release mean to your business?
7. Social media is the current buzz word, is your business active in that space?
8. What role does the annual Tourism Indaba play for your tourism business?
9. Does your tourism business belong to any professional trade organization?
10. What are your short and long term goals for your business?
11. What are major challenges that are a stumbling block in growing your tourism business?
12. What role does your website play in your business and are you happy with its current format?
13. How do potential guests/clients reach your business?

Today’s task
