SA Tourism partners Network 18 for an online travel series

FANTASTIC 5  – the South Africa Chapter, chronicles the journey of five young travelers on the adventure of a lifetime!

As part of their constant endeavor to bring you the best on the Web, Network 18’s In.com presents Fantastic Five – an interactive online travel series that chronicles the journey of five young travelers set out on an adventure to a dream destination – South Africa! This unique travel reality show is brought to you by In.com (Web 18 Software Services Ltd) in association with South African Tourism. The show provides a platform for people in India to showcase their blogging skills and passion for adventure digital style!

The Fantastic Five contestants begin their journey on 6th July in South Africa and continue till 10th of July. Equipped with their mobile phones, video cameras and laptops, the Fantastic Five have one mission – discover South Africa through their eyes and showcase their unique experiences through their individual perspectives. The five travelers will visit Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth and the majestic Kruger National Park, all for five days and five nights! The Fantastic Five contestants will connect with the world in real time constantly posting their blogs, uploading videos and sharing their experiences on the move; each traveler will cover the city in their way drawing from what interests them the most.

I am sure the travelers will start feeling the warmth and hospitality of the Nation, the moment they board the South African Airways flight at Mumbai Airport. SAA is celebrating its 75th Anniversary this year, being one of the first national airlines in the world. This excitement associated with Fantastic 5 will add to SAA’s celebrations. SAA is ready to serve the thousands of viewers that will experience the adventures of the fantastic 5, by flying them down to South Africa on its state of the art A340 Aircraft.” For the purpose of short-listing, the participants for Fantastic Five, the organizers had conducted online/ live auditions all over. The selection process included uploading a 1 minute travel video or a travel photo essay to showcase their travel writing skills. 20 people were short listed, out of which the best five were selected by the judges in an intense audition.

At the end of the journey, the contestant who gathers the best ratings for his travel blog, videos and who performs best in his tasks shall be chosen as the winner of FANTASTIC FIVE season I. The final gratification for the winner would be an assignment with the prestigious ‘Better Photography’ magazine, and a wild card entry into season II of Fantastic Five, coupled with some cool gadgets in store for the winner on the go!
