Limpopo Tourism bags 2 PRM Awards

The recent PRM Awards which were hosted over breakfast at Oasis Lodge last Friday, the 3rd July 2009, proved to be a very significant milestone for Limpopo Tourism and Parks and its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Benny Boshielo after scooping not one but two PRM Awards.

The First Award was the Gold Arrow Award for tourism development; LTP was awarded this award for doing most in the tourism sector over the past 12 months to stimulate economic growth and development in the Province.

The Second Award was the Silver Arrow Award for tourism enhancement and conservation, LTP was awarded for doing most to enhance Provincial tourism and conservation. We should, however, make it clear that the conservation function is no longer with LTP, but is now done by our mother body LEDET (Limpopo Economic, Development, Environment and Tourism) but that the LTP does Hospitality Management of the resorts in the provincial nature reserves. We therefore view the participation, nomination and winning as a joint effort by both parties.

The rating for these awards was randomly done by provincial sample comprising of CEO’s, MD’s, Business Owners, Company Directors, Senior Provincial and local government officials.

LTP is not a newcomer in the PMR Awards as we have participated in these Awards since 2005. To date, the LTP has in total won seven (7) awards in different categories and the staff and the CEO is grateful about this achievement as this will boost motivation and commitment in among his staff line with the organization’s motto “Passionate About Service.” The scooping of these Awards creates an unprecedented momentum in Provincial tourism development and growth, as the Province gears for the biggest sporting spectacular, FIFA 2010 World Cup, “we could not be more confident” he said.

The winning of these Awards is preceded by the scooping of the International Star for Quality Award in Geneva Last year in October, The scooping of these Awards clearly attest to the fact  that LTP continues to break and reach new frontiers both locally and internationally as far as provincial tourism development is concerned.
