Timeshare resilient in current economic climate
MD Club Leisure Group, Shaun Lamont says despite the current economic recession globally, timeshare is resilient. People still want to holiday – and having acquired timeshare or points, they will travel. For the non timeshare holder, travelling has become limited as budgets are tightened and luxuries such as travel are put at the bottom of the list of “things to do”, but with timeshare or points, the product choice is vast, and already paid for. Hotels across the world are increasingly allocating a portion of their rooms to the vacation ownership exchange business because it acts as a buffer in hard times.
The industry is growing, globally (6 per cent), and has proven hardy in previous economic shake-ups, to a large extent people recognize life’s uncertainty, and want to make the best of their acquisition and use of it as long as they can.
The choice of destinations and space offered by this industry encourages international travel. A typical hotel is too impersonal, too limited. People now want value-added locations, and a variety of choices, and time-share resorts provide all this.
Holidaying in timeshare resorts is changing from the concept of a “cheap” holiday, to a value- added experience. A reputable & highly service oriented time-share company such as Club Leisure now offers several destinations locally and abroad which cater to a myriad of interests, from solo adventurer, to family, to couples and more.
Says Shaun Lamont “Besides the Group’s current Holiday Inventory portfolio, it also offers an additional 2000 Resorts through reciprocity arrangements, with over 150 resorts in SA alone. To meet the stringent standards of all our members and our own demanding quality criteria, the Club Leisure Group uniquely assumes sole responsibility for the entire circle of holiday services and experiences, including enrolment, administration, financing, reservations, resort management, information technology and the overall holiday or business accommodation experience”. The various products offered are also VOASA, ARDA (USA), OTE (EUROPE), and TATOC (UK) approved, which are the accredited timeshare regulatory bodies in each region of the globe.
