Emirates launches direct Durban flights
Emirates’ connectivity will soon span three major FIFA 2010 World Cup ™ host cities, as of 1 October 2009, when Emirates introduces Durban, resulting in 35 flights per week from South Africa.
“Tourism KwaZulu-Natal is elated that Emirates will be launching direct flights to our beautiful province, which will now be opened to the world – making inbound and outbound travel far easier and cost effective. This move by Emirates sets a positive outlook for the city of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal as a province and South Africa as a whole. As Tourism KZN, we have pledged our support for Emirates to make the route a resounding success and prove sceptics wrong. The spotlight is on South Africa as we move closer to the Confederation Cup and 2010 World Cup, let us shine back.” Commented Ndabo Khoza, Chief Executive Officer – Tourism KwaZulu-Natal
“With the introduction of Durban, Emirates will open the gates to the rest of the world for KwaZulu-Natal. Travellers from the region will now have the opportunity to explore destinations on 6 continents. The profile of South Africa will be further boosted, which will help in educating international visitors about this magnificent province and country,” commented South African Regional Manager for Emirates, Fouad Caunhye.
Emirates will have a daily flight from 1 October 2009, inbound and outbound, to Dubai from the Durban International Airport and later the new King Shaka Airport, once completed. The Airbus 330-200 will service the route; the aircraft offers 27 Business Class and 251 Economy Class seats.
Emirates provides exceptional service along with innovative offerings
Emirates have recently introduced their new baggage allowances which equates to 30 kg’s for Economy Class and 40 kg’s for Business Class. This new allowance will give Emirates passengers the flexibility to carry significantly more baggage.
