I have been with the agency for close on two years

Before I joined Fleishman-Hillard I was living and working in the United States. I was there for three years and prior to that I worked for a smaller communications agency in Hyde Park.

Tell us about your typical day in the office?

Each day is very totally different, but on a normal day it starts off by reading news and industry updates specifically related to the clients I work on. After that I work on numerous different projects including interviews, localizing of international client news, drafting of copy, events and implementing of overall communications strategies.

What have been your highlight(s) since joining Fleishman-Hillard?

There are a few – I started at Fleishman working on an international mobile phone manufacturer. In 2008 we managed a global launch for this client and brought in excess of 160 members of the press from Africa and the Middle East. The results were phenomenal and the hard work paid off.

At the beginning of 2009 I attended a global PR conference in Abu-Dhabi. The experience was amazing and I now speak to contacts from agencies all over the world based on our meeting in Abu Dhabi. I also have a global view of the client and their business now that I have seen their central operation.

What do you like or don’t like about your job?

I love my job, being able to create awareness for brands you are passionate about is extremely rewarding. Every day is different and there is always news from my clients that I get excited about. I love a good challenge and being able to put together great ideas for my clients and implement them. I can’t say what I dislike about my job, I am passionate about making my clients happy and delivering results.

What is your long term goal within the agency?

I am passionate about travel and tourism, in the long run I would love to take on more travel clients and manage the travel and tourism portfolio at Fleishman-Hillard SA

Who is your role model and why?

Lisa Rabbitts, account director, consumer portfolio at Fleishman-Hillard. She has been my mentor since I started at the agency in 2007. Without her guidance I would never be where I am today. She challenges me to push myself to always put my best foot forward. Her knowledge of the PR industry is impeccable and I learn something new from her every day.

How do you use the internet to improve your work?

With social media playing an increasing role in our business it is something we are involved with every day. We have moved beyond traditional use of the internet and now engage with key online influencers.

What do like and don’t like about industry blogs like travelwires.com?

Industry blogs are always useful, they provide content that help us to improve the work we do for our clients. Information is always provided and updated regularly, it is a great research tool. Should information also appear on one of my clients it remains on the web page and can be tracked and searched anytime, unlike print media where coverage is fleeting.
