Budget Rent a Car giving away 1m bonus voyager miles

Budget Rent a Car and Voyager are teaming up this winter to offer SAA Voyager members the chance to win one million bonus Voyager miles. Voyager members who book online at www.budget.co.za and rent a Budget vehicle during 1 May 2009 and 31 July 2009 will have their names entered into a lucky draw, the winner for which will be announced during August.

One million bonus SAA Voyager miles is the equivalent to 25 return business class tickets or 35 return economy tickets to anywhere in South Africa and 4 return business class tickets or 7 return economy tickets to anywhere in Europe.

Managing director Ray Booth says the purpose of the competition is to drive business to our website, reward loyal Budget renters and sign up new Voyager members to the Voyager programme..  “We want to be the car rental company of choice and this is just one of the ways we can thank our customers for choosing Budget,” he says.

  1. Personally I think the reason why SAA has agreed to this deal is because they know that actually claiming your miles is like trying to squeeze blood from a rock. Good luck to the winner in claiming.

  2. Some interesting developments in the usually pretty boring SA car rental market. First Imperial Car Rental changing to Europcar SA, now Budget car rental running an interesting competition.

I tend to agree with Jacques, but my gripe is more over the eventual costs of “free” tickets purchased with Voyager miles. After you add all SAA’s “taxes” in, you end up paying something close to a low cost carrier’s fares. The Voyager miles are only really worthwhile for upgrading from economy class to business class.

The main issue is that whenever you try and claim your SAA voyager miles and use them to get a flight, there are so many restrictions and requirements (plus extra fees) that it kinda makes sense to just book with a budget airline

  4. Wow!..The winner must be very happy claiming his 1m bonus voyager miles. Congratulations!
