Mantis Group collects loads of World Travel Africa Awards
After a world wide voting campaign which reached travel professionals, Mantis, a company based in the Eastern Cape of South Africa was honoured with several awards at the World Travel Africa Awards Ceremony at the International Convention Center in Durban on 11th May 2009.
Adrian Gardiner, Mantis CEO says, “It’s a honour to be the recipient of all these awards, I feel privileged that our Company and its portfolio has received these several acknowledgements; it marks the Groups great efforts, hard work and dedication to excellence and unsurpassed expectations. I look forward to the many more successes and growth in Mantis with the addition of new and exciting product line up for this year.”
Present at the World Travel Africa Awards Ceremony in Durban, Adrian Gardiner walked away with the following awards:

- Africa’s Leading Boutique Hotel Brand 2009
- Africa’s Leading Game Reserve Brand 2009
- South Africa’s Leading Game Reserve Brand 2009
Shamwari Game Reserve
- Shamwari Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape, received Africa’s Leading Conservation Company and Africa’s Leading Safari Lodge Award for 2009.
Shamwari Townhouse
- Shamwari Townhouse in the Eastern Cape, received Africa’s Leading Townhouse Award for 2009.
The Long Beach
- The Long Beach in the Western Cape, received South Africa’s Leading Boutique Beach Hotel Award for 2009.
The month of May 2009 has been a time of great acknowledgement for Adrian Gardiner, the Mantis Group, and shareholder Dubai World Africa, as Shamwari Game Reserve was also honoured on the 5th May 2009, at the World Travel Awards in the Middle East Gala Ceremony in Dubai, where Shamwari Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape of South Africa was the only international company to receive special recognition for its ongoing conservational efforts by receiving the World’s Leading Conservation Company Award 2009, for its tenth consecutive year.
Then at the Wilderness Foundation Awards Dinner on the 10th May 2009, Mantis’ world leading reserves in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape of South Africa were the recipients of the Accommodation Green Leaf Environmental Standard Awards for 2009.
Shamwari Game Reserve, Eastern Cape
- Rippons Safari Lodge, an eco-lodge based at Shamwari received the Gold Leaf Award
- Eagles Crag, the premier lodge at Shamwari received the Green Leaf Award
- Sarili Lodge, newly developed lodge at Shamwari received the Green Leaf Award
Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, Western Cape
- Dwyka Tented Lodge, a luxurious tented lodge received the Green Leaf Award
- Gondwana Family Lodge, newly launched luxurious lodge received the Green Leaf Award
The Wilderness Foundation launched the International Green Leaf Environmental Standard Award in 2008 in response to the ever growing pressures placed on the environment.
Adrian Gardiner, founder and CEO of Mantis has become one of the most recognized environmentalists in South Africa, last year he walked away with the Nick Steele Memorial Award as the SAB Environmentalist of the Year 2008.
