Bushmans Kloof diversifies into spa and wellness

Bushmans Kloof, recently included in the Condé Nast Traveler Gold List Best Hotels in the Middle East & Indian Ocean 2009, is not resting on its laurels.  An inspiring new focus on the spa, wellness programmes and on its holistic healing offering is being introduced to add an irresistible new dimension to the whole guest experience.  This enhancement is reflected in the change of name to Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat.

Recognising that increasing numbers of people are coming to realise that a return to nature offers the surest path to wellness, this spiritual haven nestling at the foothills of the majestic Cederberg, is creating the perfect environment in which to rejuvenate mind, body and spirit.  Whilst only 270km from Cape Town, it is a world away from today’s stressful and toxic environment. Here guests are able to unwind with invigorating outdoor activities, luxurious accommodation, award-winning cuisine and soothing spa treatments.

The tranquil setting, soothing energy of this mystical reserve, and the breathtaking views from this 5-star Relais & Chateaux property, are wonderful therapy in themselves. Situated in the heart of Rooibos (red bush) country, the beauty of the untamed wilderness with its wide open plains, rugged mountains, sacred rock art and abundant wildlife, provides the perfect backdrop to a wellness experience that is truly unique.

The upgraded Spa will soon offer 6 treatment rooms, plus a steam chamber with its own Signature Massage.  The stunning heated outdoor jet pool, set against a spectacular rocky backdrop, together with the Fitness Centre and the outdoor Spa Gazebo, provides a wealth of wellness options. The newly completed Spa Gazebo is a truly magical space in which individuals or couples can experience the luxury of a pampering massage along with an indulgent manicure or pedicure. With its delightfully restful riverside setting and panoramic views, there is no better place on earth to achieve inner harmony and regain peace with nature. Spa treatments can also be enjoyed in the privacy of guest rooms, or closer to nature – in a scenic spot in the garden, or in the cool of an ancient cave in the reserve.

The Spa Menu has already been transformed to include a range of innovative therapeutic face and body treatments, as well as touch therapies that tap into the healing powers of nature.  These include Africology, the proudly South African anti-ageing body and skincare treatment range that’s enriched with indigenous herb and plant extracts from the fertile African soil. Suitable for all skin types, it assists the skin’s cell memory to re-set, regenerate and rejuvenate.

The resort has also introduced a range of 2- and 3-night Spa Packages. Three of these have been specially tailored to combat the effects of ageing, and guests will be restored and revitalized with a selection of powerful energy-boosting Africology spa treatments, gentle exercise and healthy nutritional options.

Select spa treatments have even been introduced exclusively for those aged 10 to 17, and Bushmans Kloof’s new Hip Spa means that younger guests can now join the quest for wellness, relaxation and beauty with treatments such as the ‘Relax to the Max’ back massage and ‘Back Scrub a Dub’ (a ‘facial for the back’).

Those who’d like to experience all these new and enhanced wellness offerings are invited to join Renchia Droganis, the creator of Africology, as she leads a special Holistic Healing with Africology 2-night wellness escape at Bushmans Kloof.

Finally, there have also been a number of exciting culinary changes at Bushmans Kloof. The versatile, nutritious and therapeutic Rooibos plant, endemic to the Cederberg and abundant in the reserve, now forms an integral part of the guest experience at Bushmans Kloof. Refreshingly chilled Iced Rooibos Tea is served as signature welcome drink on arrival, and guests may enjoy a steaming pot for afternoon tea, as well as healthy dishes utilizing deliciously fragrant Rooibos and other fynbos plants that feature extensively in the chef’s delicious Cape Country Cuisine. Extracts from this magical plant are also used in the resort’s hand-made bars of Rooibos soap, and are incorporated into selected products and treatments at the Spa.
