My take on industry PR websites

As I’m exposed to various industry PR agencies through press releases that I get sent daily, today I present to you those currently in my inbox. On occasion I take time to browse through their individual websites to get a feel of what’s on offer.

As a communications company, I expect to find more on the make-up of such websites:

* Homepage;
* Press releases – current and archived;
* Brands that they represent.

My top 10 is based on the above findings from a list on my inbox and is as follows:

Website

Homepage

Press Release Archive

Brand Profile

My Verdict

Manley Communications

In your face brief introduction about agency, with high resolution photographs and the entire list of their portfolio at the footer of the page. Have a subscription form to grow mailing list.

Provides the top 5 press releases issued per brand.

Each brand is profiled with an attractive photograph, brief history, the owners are named and their contact detail.

Highly professional and clean presentation. Would love to know what social networking tools do they use?

Southern Spoor In your face brief introduction about agency, the latest 5 press released to date. Beautiful background elephant’s photograph. These is a separate link with all press releases issued to date. Profiles all brands they represent, with colourful photographs, their respective website address and fact sheet link There is enough space at the footer of each page to increase the photograph size per profiled brand. Recommend that you introduce a subscription form on the homepage to capture and grow your mailing list. Suggest you consider iContact for email subscriptions to grow your mailing list.
Tilly Smith Use slide show to rotate thumbnail photographs of brands they represent. Linked their latest press releases on each profile. Profiles each brand with a brief intro together with a logo. The basics are there though a new look website with a more organized layout would be the solution. Suggest you consider iContact for email subscriptions to grow your mailing list.
Five Star RP A slide show of photographs of brands represented and a link to a press release. No link to archived press releases Each brand is profiled with a brief intro, photograph of the product represented, website address and company logo. Also when they joined the agency. Get all the press releases you’ve distributed for your current clients into the website. The rotating images on homepage are of poor quality, replaced them with high resolution photographs.
Suggest you consider iContact for email subscriptions to grow your mailing list.
The PR Team A slide show on services rendered. Provides a drop down list of press releases issued to date, which is only accessible through the menu bar on newsroom. List of clients, with a link to their respective website addresses. Could do better with the homepage, than by rotating a few words. Use bold images instead of just a list of clients.
Suggest you consider iContact for email subscriptions to grow your mailing list.
PR Worx Vision, mission and objectives No press releases published on the website Only testimonials from clients. Focus should be given to clients. Recently distributed a press release about Qatar Airways and there is nothing about that brand on the website? Suggest you consider iContact for email subscriptions to grow your mailing list.
Headlines PR Brief introduction about the agency and their contact details No press releases published. List of clients, with their respective company name and website address only. Waste of homepage, add more images and use your website to archive your press releases. Suggest you consider iContact for email subscriptions to grow your mailing list.
Lesley Simpson Their website is dead, though it’s included on all their email signatures.Recommend you follow my guide to creating an affordable website for your business
Knysna PR Counts Knysna Elephant Park as their client. Website address which is part of their email signature, directs you to “This will soon be the new home of the domain: www.knysnapr.co.za” page. Recommend you follow my guide to creating an affordable website for your business
du Plessis Associates Counts Tourvest Inbound Operations as their client and they don’t have a website of their own? Recommend you follow my guide to creating an affordable website for your business.
