Lugenda Wilderness Camp lights up the safari circuit in Mozambique

Nestled along the eastern bank of the Lugenda River, lies an African bush haven – the Lugenda Wilderness Camp. Located in the Niassa Reserve, covering parts of Cabo Delgado Province and nearly one third of Northern Mozambique, the Reserve is an untouched and undiscovered 42 000 square kilometre expanse of wilderness.

Situated on the Tanzanian border in northern Mozambique, the Niassa Reserve is about twice the size of the Kruger National Park and has the greatest concentration of game in Mozambique. Our qualified guides will reveal the wonders of an undiscovered region, only recently opened to discerning safari enthusiasts. On walks and game drives guests experience raw Africa at its wildest, but within the confines of camp guests are cosseted and pampered. Stylish tents, a scenic swimming pool, fascinating guides, shady guest areas and views over the river will keep you content to remain in camp for hours and hours. The area is also a birder’s paradise abundant raptors and 370 bird species already identified, including the rare Pel’s Fishing Owl and Angola Pitta.

Accommodation
Intimate and understated, yet offering every luxury you could wish for, Lugenda offers the definitive wilderness camp experience. The eight luxury tents are situated 40 metres from the banks of the Lugenda River beneath towering fig trees, each with its own patio deck with wide-angle views. The tents have a solid substructure and blend beautifully into the natural surrounds whilst offering every modern comfort – from king-size beds to en-suite bathrooms with Victorian-style bath and shower, double basins, ceiling fans, personal safes and hairdryers.

Access
Guests can fly into Pemba International Airport from Johannesburg, Maputo or Dar es Salaam and transfer to Lugenda Wilderness Camp on a light aircraft.
