Cape Town Tourism shortlisted for Luxury Travel Awards
Cape Town has been nominated as a contender in the Best Entertainment Category at the International Luxury Travel Awards and Cape Town Tourism CEO, Mariette du-Toit Helmbold, will be going to Switzerland for this prestigious event from 16 – 18 April 2009.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for us to meet agents in this niche market,” says du-Toit Helmbold, who has over 54 meetings pre-scheduled with travel buyers, “Particularly when Cape Town’s luxury offering is really starting to make waves.” In particular, the recent opening of the six star One & Only Waterfront, and it’s international Nobu and Maze restaurants, have significantly added to Cape Town’s upmarket offering.
“Already Cape Town is favoured by the world’s wealthy and famous with celebrities flocking to Cape Town over the past summer season. The 2010 FIFA World Cup will also see plenty of affluent travelers coming into town. Their expectations are high and we are ready to meet them,” declares du-Toit Helmbold.
The nomination for Best Entertainment destination refers to the broader sense of entertainment; tours, activities, shopping, cultural offering, sports etc…Cape Town was recently recognised by the Country Brand Index 2008 as one of the world’s Top Ten Most Authentic Destinations. This is perhaps the thing that money cannot buy and its something that travelers on all budgets are looking for.
The level of authenticity one can experience whilst also enjoying a luxury experience is a key part of Cape Town’s allure. Yachting at sunset, having a massage outdoors amongst fynbos, driving an exotic car through the winelands – these are all adventures that celebrate the simple things in life in the most luxurious way.

Cape Town is a fascinating mosaic of Asian, European and African traditions.
Visitors to Cape Town are often amazed by the dramatic contrasts that remain between different areas.
Cape Town Hotels is one of Cape Town’s most beautiful areas. The views are simply splendid across the ever- changing Atlantic Ocean and along the peaks of the Twelve Apostles mountain range.
A chic and modern café positioned on the trendy beach front side walk. Restaurant offers the perfect dining experience and the elegant Traders Bar and Cigar Lounge is for unwinding with an after-dinner drink.
