Cap Estel joins The Mantis Collection
The Mantis Group is proud to announce its most recent marketing partnership with legendary luxury property, Cap Estel, on the Mediterranean in the South of France. Located on a five acre peninsula just a short distance from Nice and Monaco, Cap Estel was founded by Frank Harris, an Irish journalist and his close friend Oscar Wilde, at the turn of the 19th Century, when they decided to turn a pig farm into a high class ‘resort’.
Steeped in history this stunning hotel has passed from the famous Russian Stroganoff family, to Greek ship owners and even a racing car driver, before finally falling into the loving hands of its current owners, whose finishing touches to the property were finalised in early 2009. The property has been transformed and renovated with 21st Century state of the art technology – yet remains in keeping with its natural, elegant setting on a rugged coastline, nestled into the mountain side.
Adrian Gardiner, CEO of the Mantis Group said; “We’re honoured to welcome Cap Estel into the Mantis Family. This historical property, with its magnificent location, setting and gardens, is a unique residence with impeccable service that really sets an exquisite standard in the luxury travel market. Cap Estel is sure to add great benefit to our existing portfolio of 5-star boutique accommodation around the world.”
Bernard Apthorp, Director General of Cap Estel added “By collaborating with Mantis, we hope to live up to the Mantis mantra of being able to ‘conserve a vanishing way of life’ on many different levels”
Taking luxury to the next level, Cap Estel is famed for its exclusive atmosphere where privacy remains a priority for this ‘hotel particulier’- a place of high expectations, secrecy and social interaction.
At its optimum occupancy, Cap Estel can sleep 55 guests across four separate buildings (Le Cap, Le Parc, La Mer, La Corniche), in 14 suites and four exceptional rooms within its 5,500 square meter estate. All rooms and suites offer a relaxing sea view and are equipped with plasma screens, broadband and WIFI on request. Previous guests include Greta Garbo, The Beatles, Sir Laurence Olivier, and Robert de Niro.
In 2008 Le Table du Cap Estel was opened under the supervision of Head Chet Nicolas Vie. Using produce from the Cap Estel vegetable garden as well as locally sourced high quality ingredients, Vie offers a wide range of Mediterranean dishes.
A stroll though the magnificent and fragrant five acre gardens, landscaped by celebrated architect and botanist, Alain Goudot, will take visitors past ponds, fountains and waterfalls as well as a wide variety of Mediterranean plant species. Private gazebos are available for spa massages whilst the property’s private beach (with landing deck) is also accessed via the gardens.
Cap Estel is also able to offer a full range of spa treatments and private gym sessions. Relaxation facilities include a heated indoor pool with steam room with sauna, as well as a heated outdoor seawater infinity pool with Jacuzzi. Further facilities include the serene piano bar, billiard room and a 38 seat cinema- all combining to make any stay at Cap Estel, a truly unforgettable experience.
