Hout Bay Manor recognised for unique design

The 5-star Hout Bay Manor, Cape Town has been recognised for the outstanding interior décor and design work achieved to return the Manor to its former glory during its 18 month refurbishment that was completed in 2007 by renowned interior designer Boyd Ferguson of Cécile & Boyd’s.

Ferguson was honoured by being named the ‘ABSOLUT VISI Designer of the Year for 2009′ at an awards ceremony on Wednesday, 25 February 2009. He was nominated for his innovative use of African pattern and colour to create an original contemporary design feel for Hout Bay Manor.

States international Executive Chef and General Manager of Hout Bay Manor, Alexander Mueller, “The owners’ love of Africa, its people and the culture was paramount to its transformation as well as rejuvenating the original Manor to its former glory.”

Since its grand opening in October 2007, the Manor and its celebrated restaurant Pure have received incredible applause from local and international guests as well as industry, all searching for a boutique hotel with utter uniqueness, 5-star service, standards and intimacy. Hout Bay Manor was the first hotel in the area to receive 5-star status.

Ferguson worked hand in hand with the owner of Hout Bay Manor Sue Strüngmann to capture and pay tribute to South Africa by integrating cultural styles yet still retained the intimacy and grace of the listed building that was built in 1871.

Hout Bay Manor is renowned as one of Cape Town’s most graceful landmarks boasting just 21 individually designed rooms, all en-suite; a true boutique hotel that is as intimate and personally bespoke as a highly personalised home. The ever popular restaurant, Pure, open to guests and non-residents, remains a firm favourite with those wanting an exclusive dining experience.
